Eating Healthy in a Crazy World

9:46:00 PM

It is so hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle when you are running around like crazy all of the time. The key is time management, if you make time for the things that are truly important, than it is not so hard to do. I am a huge advocate of healthy eating and daily exercise.

On the menu today:
Breakfast: banana and some blueberry yogurt

Don't forget that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month <3
Lunch: vegetable soup and a banana (it had been a while since I had been to the grocery store, I don't normally eat this light)

well I got two of my super foods =)
Dinner: Sautéed chicken, a sweet potato and asparagus - went to the Farmer's Market after work and got some delicious goodies!!

I was reading today about the 10 super foods so I thought that I would share:
  1. Low fat or fat free plain yogurt. I suggest spicing it up a bit with some fresh organic fruit, such as strawberries or blueberries.
  2. Eggs. Egg white omelets are packed with protein and low in fat.
  3. Nuts. Keep in mind that these are a good source of protein, but moderation here is key.
  4. Kiwis. These are the most nutritionally dense fruits, full of antioxidants, and yummy too!
  5. Quinoa. One of the best whole grains you can eat, according to Zied. As easy to prepare as rice and can be eaten alone or mixed with vegetables, nuts, or lean protein.
  6. Beans. They really are good for your heart! They are loaded with insoluble fiber, which helps lower cholesterol, as well as soluble fiber, which fills you up and helps rid your body of waste.
  7. Salmon. Packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which studies have shown help protect heart health.
  8. Broccoli. Tastes good and is available all year round.
  9. Sweet Potatoes. Lead the pack in vitamin A content.
  10. Berries. have an incredible amount of nutritional goodness, loaded with antioxidants, low in calories, and high in water and fiber to help control blood sugar and keep you full longer.
It is so important now a days in a society distorted by hundred calorie packs and fast food to eat the right kinds of foods and get all of the necessary nutrients to be healthy. Don't let the media give you the wrong impression, fad diets and processed foods will only leave you upset and at the same point on the scale. Whether you are trying to maintain your weight or lose weight, you will see much better and longer lasting results by eating healthier foods (UNPROCESSED IS KEY!!!) and exercising daily.

The reason why I press not eating processed foods is that we all know that they are bad for us, and of course who is going to go the rest of their life without eating something that is processed, it's just not going to happen. But if you can cut those foods out for the most part from your diet, you will not only feel better and be healthier, you will probably look better too.
