Runners High

10:53:00 AM

Today I started out this morning with a little 3.49 mile run. It was beautiful outside, very little humidity, so I didn't feel like I was drowning in my own breath.

My course for today
I found this new program online, mapmyrun.com which you can put in where you ran and it will tell you the exact distance. You can also log your routes if you are training for something, whether it be a 5k or a marathon.

As I was running this morning I got to thinking, I have always wanted to be able to run a marathon or at least a half marathon. So I have decided, what the heck! Why not? I am just going to do it! So today will be the beginning of my training, next step to find an appropriate half marathon to run within the next month or so. I was interested in the Women's Half Marathon here in St. Pete on November 21st, but I am not sure if I will be able to make it down from Gainesville that weekend, so I might have to find something up there. I will keep you all up to date with my training along with tips and tricks for your own training.

Here we go...

Day 1:
jog/run
distance: 3.9 miles
time: 38 minutes

I have been doing my research for the purpose of my training. It seems that most individuals would train for approximately 9 weeks or a little over 2 months, but I think that since the half marathon that I really want to do is in 20 days, I will just pick up the pace a bit on my training. I have been an avid runner for years now, so I do have some experience under my belt, unlike the beginner who has never run a day before in their life. So for the next 19 days I will track and record every detail to my training, I can hear the Rocky training music now, it is my inspiration! ;)

Let the games begin...
