Goals for a New Year

10:14:00 AM

I love the idea of the new year. A blank slate. A new book with all blank pages waiting to be filled. I don't normally do "New Year's Resolutions" but for some reason this year as I pondered what the new year may bring I decided I would. There are just some things in life that are too important and my hope is by putting them down in a tangible form I will make more of an effort to make them happen.

Travel. Last year we as a family got a couple vacations in and Morgan and I got one really nice getaway just the two of us. For 2017 I would love to travel just as much or more than we did last year.

Patience. God is always working on teaching me patience and I would have to say that it is my greatest goal (especially as a parent) to be more patient with my children. I can be a little hot headed sometimes and I don't want my children to remember me as an angry or frustrated person when they grow up.

Be in the Moment. Living in the moment hasn't always come easy for me. I am always thinking of everything happening or coming up on the schedule that I very easily get distracted from life around me. I am getting better at this, but this year I really want to make more of an effort to not worry about every single detail and just go with the flow.

Romance. I have realized in the last year that my relationship with my husband has changed a little bit. With the busyness of two kiddos, growing businesses and taking care of a home, somehow our romance has gotten lost in the shuffle. This year I want to make sure I make every effort to express gratitude and love towards my husband every single day. I want to have the goal of more date nights and more romantic getaways (just the two of us).

Well there you have it. My goals for a new year + a new start.

Have you set any goals for yourself this year? Or made any resolutions in the past that you have stuck to and been proud of?

I would love to hear some of your resolutions in the comments below.
