Feeling Good in Your Skin

As a woman in the world today it is extremely hard to feel good in your own skin, the skin that God created just for you, that makes you absolutely one of a kind, mint, unique, special. But we don't normally think of ourselves in these positive terms, rather, more in the negative. We see every little imperfection, blemish, wrinkle, roll, etc. and make ourselves feel unworthy and not beautiful for who we are.

When I was a teenager and into my early 20s I struggled a LOT with body image. With loving myself for the way I was. I compared my body in every fashion to the pages of magazines and others around me and had an eating disorder for years to try to fit into this "perfect" size zero society we live in. It was a dark and lonely place to be, but somehow God pulled me out with the love and support of those he had placed in my life. Over the years I have learned to love myself and to take care of my body in a way that it is healthy and strong, which for me has become more important than being a certain size.

God doesn't make mistakes and He certainly did not make a mistake when He made you or me. So as hard as it may be to look in the mirror and love what is staring back at you, try. Don't let whatever the mold of society change who you are and don't let what others may say dictate how you feel about yourself.

You are "fearfully and wonderfully made..." Psalm 139:14

And you are beautiful just the way you are!
